This 45-minute live webinar AFP Fact Check: Combating Health Misinformation will take place on Thursday, 18 March 2021 at 2pm Hong Kong time (GMT +8). You're invited to join this webinar to hear insights from Rachel Blundy, Senior Fact-Check Editor for Asia in AFP, who will be offering pointers for dealing with the alarming amount of inaccurate health information circulating online. During the webinar, Rachel will tackle the following, among other things:
- Aspects of COVID misinformation and their effect on online health communication
- Impact of misinformation on health literacy
- Methods used to debunk misleading health claims

SPEAKER BIO |
Rachel Blundy is a Senior Fact-check Editor for AFP in Asia, based in Hong Kong. She co-ordinates a team of reporters and editors in fourteen countries/territories. Originally from London, she worked for more than five years in reporting and digital production roles on newspapers in the UK before moving to Hong Kong to work as a reporter for the South China Morning Post. She has expertise in verifying user generated content on social media after working for social media intelligence agency Storyful. Rachel has trained journalists in digital verification techniques as part of the Google News Initiative in India, as well as at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union's annual conference in Turkey.
